A 12 year old has stolen a bus, damaging a number of cars while joy-riding in Dunedin overnight.

The Otago Daily Times reports the boy got into the bus at Ocean View, driving at least 20 kilometres through Green Island, on the Southern Motorway and into Dunedin.
Police confirmed the vehicle was driven kilometres through Dunedin, crashing into parked cars before coming to a stop in the Pine Hill area.
The child fled the bus before being found and arrested.
Police say no one was in the parked vehicles and no one was injured.
