Fiji police say they are continuing to gather evidence on the alleged assault of an opposition MP by the prime minister.
It comes after footage emerged of Frank Bainimarama grabbing and shoving Pio Tikoduadua outside parliament earlier this month.
In a statement on Tuesday, Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho said investigators were gathering statements of evidence.
He said when this was completed a file would be sent to the public prosecutor for sanctioning.
"Progress on the investigations has been provided to the complainant and we will continue to do (sic) liaise with the complainant until the completion of the case."
It's the first time police have publicly commented since announcing an investigation into the August 9 incident.
