The Northern Marianas government says its biggest challenge to the resumption of tourists arriving next month is quarantine protocols.

As the CNMI prepares to open up to international flights again, the administration said its priorities were to ensure the community was safe and to work with tourism partners in preparing for July.

It said since travellers would be subjected to days of quarantine before getting into the CNMI and could be subjected to quarantine again when they returned home, it might be hard to attract tourists.

The government said it was working with airlines, tour agents, and the Marianas Visitors Authority alongside the key markets of China, South Korea, and Japan to address such concerns.
