10:01 am on 1 April 2020

There has been another confirmed Covid-19 infection in French Polynesia, raising the total to 37.

One of the carriers is in hospital care.

The latest update shows that for three consecutive days there has been an increase of the tally by just one.

All cases are in Tahiti and Moorea after a patient was removed from Rangiroa.

The territory's first case was recorded three weeks ago.

According to the health minister, none of those infected is a child or an old person.

Air Tahiti Nui says all its scheduled flights will be cancelled until the end of April.

The airline says it plans to resume its services on 1 May subject to government regulations.

It has asked people holding bookings to reconfirm them 72 hours before departure.

However, Air Tahiti Nui is expected to fly a plane to China this week to pick up a consignment of medical supplies after expected provisions from France failed to arrive.
