The new MP for Falealili Sisifo in Samoa, Aumua Isaia Lameko, has been charged with negligent driving causing injury.
Police said Aumua was scheduled to appear in the District Court on 5 April.
The Samoa Observer reported the charge followed an incident involving Aumua before the March election.
The incident occurred late January at Malaemalu, involving an eight-year-old female pedestrian.
The girl required medical treatment.
