The electricity company Papua New Guinea Power has announced there will be no more tariff increase in power for the rest of this year.
The Public Enterprise Minister Ben Micah made the announcement yesterday in front of a senior management team including the acting chief executive officer John Tangit.
Mr Micah says the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission approved a small increase in tariffs in the first and second quarter of this year.
He says after consultations with the Prime Minister, the top management of PNG Power and the Board chairman, an agreement has been reached, that from the third quarter, the tariff increases for power will be deferred so the company can absorb the cost of the increases internally.
