A 57-year-old man has been charged with arson following a house fire in South Auckland on Sunday morning.

It was one of two suspicious house fires in Manurewa overnight.

Fire and Emergency (FENZ) said crews were called to a two-storey apartment block on Lincoln Road about 4.30am on Sunday.

All persons are accounted for, and four fire trucks remained dampening down hotspots.

And firefighters responded to a blaze at a house on Great South Road about 9.45pm on Saturday, which FENZ was also treating as suspicious.

A fire investigator was at the scene.

A man will appear in Manukau District Court on Monday in relation to the second fire, the police said.

No injuries were reported in either blaze.

The police said there was no suggestion the two fires were linked, at this stage.
