Queenstown in the first week of June is once again the place to be if you love the sound of the classical violin.
After a break of four years, the Michael Hill International Violin Competition is back.
Bryan Crump spoke with the Competition's Executive Director Anne Rodda, who says the violinists had been preparing for over a year, and will be performing a variety of solo violin and piano accompanied works. The grand finale performances will be with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.
She said it was fantastic to bring the event back after three years of Covid-19-related cancellations.
"It's so thrilling to be able to have these incredible international violinists back in New Zealand. We can't wait to hear them play."
