An amendment to the Employments Relations Bill in Fiji will see a reduction in family care and paternity leave during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum told Parliament the interim measure would see the current five-day leave entitlement reduced to two days.
Mr Khaiyum said those who had already taken more than two days would not be affected.
"It does not mean they have to pay back the three days. They have taken it that's fine.
"Workers who have already used two days of the Family Care leave will not be able to take an added two or three days of the Family Care Leave during the Covid-19 period."
Mr Saiyed-Khaiyum said workers' entitlement to such leave will increase again once the coronavirus crisis has ended.
