Yazaki Samoa says it will offer its 740 employees transitional support packages to prepare them for future careers.
The company this month announced it would be shutting down operations in Apia after 25 years.
Talamua online reports that Yazaki Samoa General Manager Funefe'ai Oliva Va'ai confirmed the transitional package during a presentation at a meeting with the Samoa Association Manufacturers and Exporters.
Funefe'ai says the initiative to is to give something back to the people that have built the company in the past 25 years.
Funefe'ai says every employee at Yazaki has a package that will include an acknowledgement letter from the company's President in Japan, and an encouragement for them to stay on until the company closes.
The company is offering information on different courses and training programmes the employees can choose to undertake.
Yazaki is to offer courses at the company factory, and other training would be offered at the Australian Pacific Technical College, the National University of Samoa and the University of the South Pacific.
The company surveyed the interest and skills of employees to determine how best to assist in their future career paths.
Talamua online says the choices include Samoan printing, sewing, organic farming and vegetable gardening.
