'Akilisi Pohiva has been undergoing treatment at Mercy Hospital since 8 May.

The Prime Minister's Office said his next procedure is scheduled for Thursday.

Matangi Tonga reported last week Mr Pohiva was visited by New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters who offered his moral support and wished him all the best for his recovery.

The two also discussed ongoing co-operation between the two countries to address the illegal drugs issue and talked about Tonga's new Parliamentary building which the New Zealand and Australian governments have committed to build.
