Te Kauwae-a-Māui – the Cape Kidnappers coastal track in Hawke's Bay – will be reopened at the end of the year, but anyone using it will do so at their own risk.

Two tourists were seriously injured when a slip came down on the track in January last year.

Chris Thew from the Hastings District Council told RNZ's Hawke's Bay reporter, Tom Kitchin, that walkers need to be aware of the heightened risks on the beach.
