Police investigating a firearms incident in Porirua City Centre last weekend want to speak to witnesses.
Shortly after midnight on 22 April, police were told of some disorder outside a business premises on Serlby Place, Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Middlemiss said.
A man suffered a serious gunshot wound after a firearm was discharged by an individual who was among a group of people, he said.
The victim was in a stable condition in hospital.
Police have completed a scene examination and were making enquiries to determine the circumstances of the incident but also needed the public's help.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has information that could assist with their enquiries, was asked to contact police on 105, referring to file number 230423/6438.
Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
Police believed it was an isolated incident and there was not thought to be an ongoing risk to the community, Detective Middlemiss said.
