A woman living in a Flat Bush home that was the scene of a "violent" home invasion that left one person injured has described men smashing into the rural home with weapons.
Police were called to the two-storey house on Chianti Close shortly after 10.15pm on Thursday to reports of an aggravated robbery, a police spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said two men "smashed their way into the home" and seriously assaulted someone living there before taking some items and fleeing before police arrived.
On Friday, there was no police cordon outside the home on the cul-de-sac, but forensic units were finishing up inside the house.
A woman living in the home, who did not want to be named, said she had been shaken by the incident which she believed was a "random event".
"Someone came in with weapons and just smashed through the door and that's all we really know. We don't want to say too much."
The woman said she had been living at the house for nine years and it was a "very safe and quiet street" usually.
"We've never experienced anything like this and neither have any of our neighbours."
She said the man who was injured had been taken to hospital but was "doing alright".
"I think the people who came here were looking for cash," she said.
The woman said so far, no one had been arrested but police were "trying hard to find the men".
"We haven't got any updates yet."
The home did have security cameras on the driveway, but the woman said she was not sure if they were working last night or if they had captured anything.
The injured person was taken to hospital with moderate injuries and those involved are yet to be found, the police spokesperson said.
Police did find a car they believe could be linked to the crime a short time later, which is being examined.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call police on 105, quoting job number P059453110.
Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
The home invasion comes a month after an elderly woman, in her 80s, was seriously injured during a home invasion in West Auckland's Henderson.
A 36-year-old man has been charged with aggravated burglary in relation to that incident.
