19:10 pm on 12 October 2014

Air crash investigators will remove the last of the wreckage from a helicopter crash site in a remote part of Kahurangi National Park tomorrow.

The body of the pilot, Damian Webster, and his Robinson 44 helicopter, was found on Friday after an extensive four-day search.

Mr Webster's body was retrieved from the site yesterday by police and a post-mortem was due to be carried out today.

Peter Northcote from the Transport Accident Investigation Commission said two investigators will remain in the area talking with the police, airforce and the helicopter operator.

He said the investigators will return to Wellington on Tuesday and the wreckage will be brought to the capital by truck.

Mr Northcote said the investigation will take between one to two years.
