Samoa's Prime Minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi has accepted a village's demand for its pulenuu, or mayor, to be reinstated.

The prime minister has accepted the demand of Magiagi village council for Tuiono To'afa Uini Keni, to continue holding the position after he was sacked last Friday in a cabinet decision.

The village has agreed to have the Electric Power Corporation's operation to have cash power meters installed in every hopusehold.

It has had 14 years of power supply without paying bills because of a standoff with the government over a compensation claim for the use of the village's customary lands for the hydropower plant.

The government has appointment a committee which includes Magiagi matais to look into the issue.
