Fiji Labour Party advises appointees not to resign

Fiji Labour Party appointees to Government boards and overseas missions will not follow the example of their leader and two interim Cabinet Minister's and resign their posts.

The Fijilive website quotes FLP assistant general secretary, Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi, who resigned along with party leader interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry and party member interim Tourism Minister Tom Ricketts, as saying the party will not pressure their members who are government appointees to vacate office.

Mr Vayeshnoi says these people are doing a good job for the people of Fiji and should continue doing so.

Ousted prime minister, Laisenia Qarase, says the Labour supporters who are part of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji should also resign.
