The global watchdog group on illegal financing, the Financial Action Task Force, has removed the Cook Islands from its list of uncooperative countries.

The task force said in a statement after a meeting in Paris that the Cooks, along with the Philippines and Indonesia, was cleared because it had initiated measures to fight money laundering.

Only Nauru is left on the list of Non-Cooperative Countries and Territories, along with Burma and Nigeria.
