Canterbury measles outbreak: Seven people now infected

The number of measles cases continues to climb in Canterbury.

A pre-schooler and a woman in her forties are the latest to catch the potentially fatal disease, taking the total number affected in the region to seven.

There is also a single case in Auckland.

The virus came in to the country from overseas.

Canterbury Medical Officer of Health Dr Ramon Pink said as the number of confirmed cases climbs, the risk of getting measles increases for those not immunised.
