A search and rescue operation is resuming today for a kayaker missing in the Firth of Thames.
The kayaker, who set out from Kaiaua with the intention of fishing at the mussel farms, was reported missing by his family on Saturday night when he did not return as expected.
The search, now in its fourth day, includes Coastguard's Air Patrol and Land SAR staff.
The man's kayak and fishing gear were found on Sunday morning, five kilometres east of Ōrere Point.
