Auckland house damaged in fire

16:22 pm on 19 May 2016

A house has been significantly damaged by fire in west Auckland.

Eight fire trucks were called to the house on Caronia Crescent about 1.30pm.

Fire Service spokesman Jarron Philips said the fire had been brought under control, and hotspots were being damped down.

He said no one was believed to have been inside at the time, and no injuries had been reported.

A specialist fire investigator has been called in.

Meanwhile in a separate incident, two people who tried to put out a fire underneath their house in Auckland are being treated for smoke inhalation and an electric shock.

The Fire Service was called to Mabbett Lane in Waimauku just after 2pm.

It said a pump underneath the house was what caught fire and that had now been put out.
