Luke Hanna is about to premiere his first solo dance work Eye, as part of the Wellington Fringe Festival before performing in the NZ International Arts Festival production of AGE by choreographer Ross McCormack.
Luke began full-time dance studies at the New Zealand School of Dance at the age of 15, and joined Auckland’s Black Grace Dance Company soon after graduating. He recently returned from a four-year stint in Australia where he was a member of Dance North in Townsville and Australian Dance Theatre in Adelaide.
Luke’s dance style ranges from peaceful and contemplative to wild and powerfully explosive, fusing elements of Maori art with western contemporary dance.
