Rising meth use raises concern in Fiji

The police in Fiji are concerned about the increasing use of the illegal drug methamphetamine in the country.

Fiji Village reported that more than $US3.4 million worth of the stimulant was intercepted by Fiji's police force last year.

Two men and a woman were taken in by police for questioning after a discovery of methamphetamine over the weekend.

Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho told Fiji Village has was concerned that more people getting trapped into taking the highly addictive substance.

He said it was obvious that violent crimes were associated with methamphetamine.

The police called for people to contact them if they had any information which would help in the fight against the drug.
