A homicide investigation has been launched after a man died after being injured at a property in Palmerston North late last night.
Police were called to a property on Dahlia Street about 10.25pm after receiving a report of a man being seriously injured.
He was taken to hospital, where he later died.
District manager criminal investigations Detective Inspector Craig Sheridan said police were now working to establish the circumstances of what happened.
"Early indications are that the incident involved parties known to each other, and at this stage, there is not thought to be an ongoing risk to the wider public," he said.
Police continue to be interested in hearing from anyone who has information that could assist and in particular, any sightings of a vehicle leaving Dahlia Street at speed at around 10.15pm.
