Kitty Daisy & Lewis: Sibling trio Kitty Daisy & Lewis are in the country and playing dates as part of the tour to promote their latest album The Third, which was produced by The Clash’s Mick Jones. Earlier this week, they wrapped up shows in Christchurch and Wellington, and tonight they play The Powerstation in Auckland. Heavy, Arcee and Forte: It’ll be the first time Heavy have played in the South Island when they perform alongside Arcee and DJ Forte this Friday at Chick’s Hotel. Presented by Radio One, the show is free with if you have a Onecard or $10 if you don’t. We’ve introduced Heavy already and recently premiered the new video for Arcee’s ‘Rebound’, so watch it below if you missed it and find the Facebook event page for the show here.

Mark Sultan: Known for performing under his pseudonym BBQ, Mark Sultan is in the country for a four-date tour. The Canadian garage rock musician, who is slated to release a new album soon, plays The Sherwood in Queenstown this evening ahead of gigs in Wellington and Auckland over the next couple of days. Tickets to see him are on sale through Under The Radar.

Madcap Clubnight: Local promotion company Madcap are hosting a new monthly club night at Cassette Nine and this Saturday sees Wellington duo Eastern Bloc and Auckland musician Boycrush play together for the event. Joining them will be Laptop Speakers, Samuel Harmony and Duped, and you can find the Facebook event page for the show right here. In the meantime, take a listen to ‘Pop Like’, below.

Folk at the Old Folks: Hosted on the first Sunday of every month, Folk at the Old Folks sees upcoming local acts play at the Auckland Old Folks Association. This weekend, Wellington-based Fairlie, who have just released their first single, and Under Bare Poles, who released two EPs earlier this year, play alongside Indian musician Balamohan Shingade. Doors open at 4pm with a koha entry. Find the full details here.

Mac Demarco listening party: Canadian musician Mac Demarco is set to release his new EP Another One this week, and Flying Out are holding a listening party ahead of its release. The shop, which has been home to a bunch of shows in the past few weeks, will also be one of the venues hosting The Others Way, a new festival taking place this September that features 27 local acts playing on and around K Road.
