It was a happy ending on Sunday to a frantic week for New Zealand's late emerging golf star Michael Hendry, who continued his stellar year with a tie for seventh at the Australian Open.
The 33-year-old was one of just six players to break par in near unplayable conditions at the Lakes course in Sydney.
After finishing four strokes behind the winner, the 53-year-old Queenslander Peter Senior, Hendry reflected on probably his round of the year in gusty conditions.
Hendry only just arrived in time for his opening round on Thursday after a delayed flight from Japan.
Going into this week's Australasian PGA Championship at Coolum in Queensland, Hendry needs to make up $20,000 on Senior to finish the year on top of the Australasian tour money list.
