The council running the most prestigious secondary school in Vanuatu is to expel 31 senior students.
The Malapoa College students breached school rules by organising a party during school time and getting drunk at a rural beach in East Efate.
The Daily Post newspaper said the school council asked the Shefa Provincial Education Board to withdraw the 31 students from the college after concerns were raised by the parents of other students.
Malapoa College, which was known as the British Secondary School during the colonial period, has produced many of the country's leaders and top bureaucrats.
