Gym, supermarket, flight to Timaru latest close contact Covid-19 exposure events

An Auckland gym, a Whangārei supermarket, a flight to Timaru and an Auckland bar and bistro have been added as close contact Covid-19 locations of interest.

Jetts Gym in Eden Terrace, Countdown Whangārei, Stanley Avenue Wine Bar & Bistro and Flight NZ8193 Wellington - Timaru were listed as close contact locations of intrerest on the Ministry of Health website today before 1pm alongside a raft of other locations of interest.

Times and dates of the exposure events can be found on the ministry's website.

There were 126 new community cases of Covid-19 reported today.

Auckland high school teacher tests positive

A staff member at an Auckland school has tested positive for Covid-19, but the school has been able to open today.

Students were filing through the school gates at Ōtāhuhu College today for the first day back in the classroom.

Ōtāhuhu College principal Neil Watson said a staff member told him yesterday they had returned a positive result, and had taken all the necessary precautions.

Close contacts were notified quickly, Watson said.

Hastings council facilities require vaccine pass

Vaccine passes will be required at more council facilities in Hastings from tomorrow, as Covid-19 case numbers grow.

There are confirmed Omicron and Delta cases in the city.

Passes will be required at all council aquatic facilities, i-sites and council offices.

There is already vaccine pass requirements at the district's libraries and art gallery.

The vaccine pass requirements in the neighbouring city of Napier are more relaxed.

There are at least 28 active Covid-19 cases in Hawke's Bay.
