A woman has been arrested over the death of a 14-year-old in Papatoetoe on 8 March.
Kaea Conan Matua was killed in an alleged hit and run.
Detective Senior Sergeant Jason McIntosh said he died at the scene.
"At the time of the crash, the driver of the vehicle involved immediately left the area following the collision," McIntosh said.
The 30-year-old woman was charged with excess breath alcohol, failing to stop and ascertain injury, and driving in a dangerous manner.
She was due to appear in the Manukau District Court on 2 May.
"We extend our condolences to Kaea's friends and whānau who are understandably devastated at what happened on that Friday night."
