Air New Zealand says bird strike is the likely cause of damage to an Airbus A320 which landed in Christchurch on Thursday.
The first indication of damage to the aircraft's wing was during a routine transit inspection after the plane landed.
The airline says repairs were completed overnight and the aircraft flew back to Melbourne on Friday.
