The actions of a soldier killed in 1918 has been commemorated by the presentation of a plaque nearly 100 years after his family were meant to receive it.
Senior Constable Karl Williams found the plaque while cleaning a cupboard in the Woodville police station, in northern Wairarapa.

He says the plaque was meant for Private Andrew McColl, who died in the World War I at the age of 31, but for an unknown reason it was never delivered.
The plaque was presented to Private McColl's nephews and other family members in Wellington on Thursday morning.
