SH1 south of Waipu reopens after crash

21:50 pm on 5 January 2014

State Highway 1 south of Waipu in Northland has re-opened after a serious crash but police are warning drivers to be careful after a second minor crash in the area.

Three people were injured, two of them seriously, after two cars collided on the south side of the Brynderwyn Hill on Sunday afternoon.

The road reopened but shortly after the police had to attend another crash in almost the same area.

Inspector Andy Brill said no one was injured in the second crash, but bad weather was making the roads more dangerous and people should drive to the conditions.
