Scott McLaughlin has regained a little lost ground in the final race of this weekend's Supercars round in Townsville.
After finishing seventh on Saturday, the defending champion and series leader from New Zealand finished sixth in the first of two races on Sunday.
Compounding the impact to his overall lead in the championship, nearest rival Jamie Whincup won both races to close McLaughlin's buffer to 109 points.
However, starting from pole position, the Kiwi bounced back to win the final race of the weekend, ahead of Cameron Waters and Whincup.
"Happy to get the start. It was an awesome battle with Cam, he was fast," McLaughlin told Fox Sports.
"We've got a little bit of work to do but yeah, really happy. Proud of everyone at Shell V-Power Racing, continually working hard.
"To get a win on a tough weekend is a great thing."
McLaughlin's championship lead pushed back out to 123 points from Whincup.
The Supercars series stays in Townsville for next weekend's round of racing.
