French football club Paris Saint Germain have reportedly sacked manager Antoine Kombouare, a day after his side went top of the French first division.

AFP reports that the Noumea born coach, who also spent five years as a player with PSG, was informed by the club's sports director, Leonardo, that his contract has been terminated.

He had been at the helm since May 2009.

In a statement PSG say the club and Kombouare "are calmly holding talks which will be concluded shortly and which will enable each side to preserve their own interests".
