The President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly has called on the Pacific to support sustainable development aspirations across the region.

Tijjani Muhammad-Bande is in Fiji for a four-day visit and said safeguarding marine resources was vital.
The UN was committed to working with the Pacific to address climate change and protect livelihoods, culture and heritage.
Mr Muhammad-Bande held a public forum at the University of the South Pacific on Friday.
On Saturday, he will visit a low-lying coastal village where the UN's 'Ridge to Reef' project aims to preserve ecosystem services, reduce carbon, improve climate resilience and sustain livelihoods there.
Mr Muhammad-Bande also held talks with acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and President Jioje Konrote.
