MetService has lifted a severe thunderstorm watch that was in place for the upper North Island, but a heavy rain warning remains in place for Tolaga Bay in Tairāwhiti and the Ruahine Ranges.
The MetService still has heavy rain warnings in place for Tairāwhiti / Gisborne from Tolaga Bay northwards until 11am on Tuesday with up to 120mm of rain forecast.
A heavy rain warning is also in place for the Ruahine Range and the inland ranges of Hawke's Bay with up to 90mm of rain forecast until 2am on Tuesday.
