Two teenagers have appeared at the New Plymouth District Court and pleaded not guilty to raping a 17-year-old woman.

The 18-year-olds, who have name suppression, briefly appeared before the registrar pleading not guilty to several charges relating to the incident.

Police say the alleged rape took place at a small social gathering on 11 October and was recorded by one of the teens charged as well as a third 18-year-old.

In court on Wednesday the pair pleaded not guilty to rape, unlawful sexual connection and indecent assault. One of accused has also denied making an intimate visual recording.

They have been released on bail and will next appear in court on 16 January.

The third person, who is charged with recording the incident will appear in court next week.
