The veteran radio broadcaster, Merv Smith, has died.
He was 85.

Smith started his career in the early 1960s at 1ZB and became one one of the first big personalities in New Zealand radio.
His fast-paced patter and good humour topped the radio breakfast ratings for almost 30 years.
