A 22-year-old man entered no plea when he appeared in the Christchurch District Court after being charged over a stabbing.
An assault was reported to police on Hereford Street shortly after 4am on Sunday, near the Oxford Terrace entertainment precinct.
One person was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition and a second was taken in a serious condition.
Police said a 22-year-old man had been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Monday morning and entered no plea.
