The standard of media and journalism education in the Pacific will be among the issues addressed at a global journalism conference opening in Auckland today.
More than 220 journalism educators and journalists representing 43 different countries will be participating in the 4th World Journalism Education Congress.
A panel including educators from Fiji, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu will discuss academic freedom, political pressures and ethics in the news media and on campuses in the region.
A panel discussing how to respond to key issues on climate change in the Asia-Pacific region will also feature.
