Aotearoa’s biggest pop star Lorde travelled to Antarctica last year courtesy of the organisation Antarctica New Zealand. The trip fulfilled a long-held dream, the singer confessing she's been “obsessed” with the continent since she was a child.
Lorde documented her experiences in articles for Metro magazine and Rolling Stone and is set to publish a book – Going South – which will raise funds for Antarctic research.
The journey also kickstarted her work on the follow-up to her 2018 album Melodrama.
She spoke to Antarctica New Zealand about her experience.
