In American Samoa, the Senate seat for Manu'a District number 2 was still vacant when the 31st legislature opened this morning.

The two chiefs who are both interested in the seat, Lolo Letalu Moliga and Velega Savali are reported to have sent letters to Senate President Gaoteote Palaie concerning the seat.

Lolo's letter reportedly asks that the Senate select between him and Velega who also meets the requirements of the law to be senator.
