Samoa rugby strike averted

07:49 am on 16 November 2014

A player strike by the Manu Samoa team seems to have been averted with the International Rugby Board and the Players' Association saying that detailed discussions are taking place and the Samoan concerns will be investigated.

The players had written a letter to the IRB threatening to boycott this month's international against England because of greivances over a lack of financial transparency from the Samoa Rugby Union.

The IRB says with all parties, including the players, committed to ongoing dialogue, just under two weeks ago the players withdrew their proposed action to withdraw.

The board says it fully expects the union to undertake its obligation to honour its November Test programme commitment in full.
