Farmers are refusing to give information because they're upset at not receiving compensation for crop damage following Tropical Cyclone Gita.

Chief statistician, Meleisea Vai Filiga, said the federal census, undertaken by every US state and territory every five years, has no relation to the Gita crop damage survey.

The census collects information on the number of farms, crops and livestock.

Meleisea said this is the first time farmers have refused to participate.
