Google is investing and hiring more tech people with the opening of its first purpose built office in Auckland and the establishment of a local engineering team.
The company is also launching a dedicated cloud-based service to better serve business customers.
Country director Caroline Rainsford said the establishment of the new office follows 15 years in New Zealand.
"As New Zealand moves through the next phase of economic recovery we'll continue to find ways to bring the best of Google to Aotearoa," she said, adding the new office is a uniquely Google.
The office includes an experiential ceiling, kayaks for a reception desk, a cafe that takes its likeness from a chilly bin and an event space.
In addition, Google is investing in expanded cloud infrastructure in response to local customer demand.
