McClaren going to Derby

The English Championship football side Derby County has named the former England boss Steve McClaren as Nigel Clough's replacement.

McClaren has been working as first-team coach at QPR under Harry Redknapp since July.

Clough was sacked after the weekend's loss to Nottingham Forest.

McClaren formerly played for Derby then spent four years at the club as assistant manager under Jim Smith before moving to Manchester United in 1999 to become Sir Alex Ferguson's right-hand man.

McClaren was sacked as England manager in 2008 and then went to FC Twente in the Netherlands.
