A Christchurch truck driver has pleaded not guilty to careless driving resulting in the death of an overseas cyclist.

David Peter Connell was driving a truck and trailer unit in September last year when he hit Taiwanese tourist, Ming Chih Hseih who was cycling along a road in Hornby.

He was remanded on bail earlier in the month to seek legal aid, and today entered a plea of not guilty.

Mr Connell is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court in May for a case review hearing.
