Tall Blacks guard Tai Webster again led the Breakers, continuing his strong start to the new season with 25 points, while Lamar Patterson produced a bounce-back performance.

Having failed to register a point in the team's last game, the American import had 22 in Cairns, included 13 in the final quarter as the visitors wrapped up the come from behind victory.

The Taipans led by eight points early in the final stanza but, with two minutes remaining, the Breakers retook the lead.

While Cairns did edge ahead again moments later, it was the New Zealand side who held their nerve in the final moments, with Finn Delany and Webster sealing the deal from the free-throw line in the dying seconds.

As well as a joint game-high in points with Taipans guard Scott Machado, Webster contributed 11 rebounds and five assists to the result.

Delany had a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Rob Loe and Tom Abercrombie had eight points each.
