Seals can distinguish rhythms - world first study

Much like their 80s pop namesake, seals apparently know a killer beat when they hear one.

In a world first, researchers have found evidence of seals as the first mammal, aside from humans, able to distinguish different rhythmic patterns.

Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics researcher and study author Dr Laura Verga spoke to Māni Dunlop.
