Changes to alert level two that allow people to gather in groups of up to 100 people came into force at midday today.
As Covid-19 spreads around the world, it can be daunting keeping up with the information. For RNZ, our responsibility is to give you verified, up to the minute, trustworthy information to help you make decisions about your lives and your health. We'll also be asking questions of officials and decision makers about how they're responding to the virus. Our aim is to keep you informed.
This includes events at home and outside of home, and gatherings such as religious services, parties, weddings, tangihanga and funerals.
The Health Ministry revealed today that there is just one active case in New Zealand, but in a statement it reminded the country that it was important that everyone continued to play it safe with social gatherings.
"The person in charge of a social gathering must ensure records are kept for contact tracing purposes, except in cases where every person in a gathering knows each other.
"The rules of 'seated, separated, single-server' still apply for hospitality businesses, but they can now take group bookings for more than 10 people."
Faith-based gatherings and clubs will be able to operate within the limits, "as long as intermingling in common spaces can be prevented".
